Read John 7:14-24
This Is Frustrating!!!
Jesus secretly went to the Jewish Festival of Tabernacles because he knew the religious leaders were looking to kill him. Halfway through the festival, Jesus went up to the temple courts and began to teach. At this time of the festival there were a lot of Jews and when they heard him speak they were amazed then asked, “How did this man get such learning without having been taught?” Instead of concluding that Jesus must be from God like He said He was (over and over again) many drew the conclusion that he’s demon possessed. This whole thing started when Jesus healed a man on the Sabbath. Jesus continues to repeat himself trying to explain that he is from God. He said, those who truly sought God with all their heart, they would be able to determine that what he was saying is truth and what he was doing really was from God. Plus, He wasn’t doing it for his own Glory but for the glory of God.
I find this passage very uncomfortable to read. I find myself feeling bad for Jesus. It has to be frustrating for him to have to keep repeating himself that he’s from God and people aren’t getting it.
I’m dealing with an issue with a Christian couple who are living together. They can’t see what the problem is. It’s frustrating. Perhaps I’m no different if I stop and look at my own weaknesses. Why do we justify our behavior and actions? Why do we make excuses? God must get frustrated with us when we repeatedly ignore his word while TRUTH gets swept under the rug and we continue down the path of deception. Why are we fighting TRUTH when God’s Word gives redemption and freedom?
I’m frustrated that people can’t see TRUTH. At the same time, God must get frustrated with me during my weaknesses. God help me to be an overcomer of temptations. Help me to love others who struggle with seeing TRUTH. Help me to love and encourage with great patience and careful instruction, as you do with me.
