Have You Taken Ownership For Your Faith In Jesus?
The Samaritan woman, who believed Jesus was the Messiah, quickly left Jesus to evangelize the people in her town. She wanted them to meet the Messiah. When the people of the town came to see Jesus, many believed and they urged Jesus to stay with them. So Jesus stayed two days with them. And because of his words, many more became believers. They said to the woman, “We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world.”
QUESTION: Have you taken OWNERSHIP for your faith? Is your faith contingent upon your encounter with Jesus because you have heard for yourself and you know that Jesus really is the Savior of the world?
Or have you not taken ownership for your faith? You say you believe. You may even go to church and say a few prayers for God’s blessings in your life. Perhaps you’ve heard the message of Jesus from your parents, your grandma, your spouse, your kid, a friend, or even a stranger. As a result you believe, but you haven’t taken ownership of it yet. You believe in your mind but not with your heart. To take ownership means to “really believe that Jesus is the Savior of the world!!”
BELIEVE IN YOUR MIND: This means you’re not sold out for Jesus. You’re not committed. You have not surrendered your life so that Jesus is the center of all you do, say and where you go! You may go to church on occasions. You may pray at a meal. But your heart isn’t in it.
BELIEVE WITH YOUR HEART: This means you want to be with Jesus always and you want to take him everywhere you go. You want others to hear about Jesus as well and you look for ways to share Jesus with them. Jesus effects who you hang out with. What music you listen to. What YouTube channels you watch. What movies you go to. He affects how you talk. You have a hunger to spend time with the Lord daily reading his word and growing. Your prayers aren’t just about being blessed but you pray in brokenness and humility. You see your imperfections and you see the lost and hurting around you and want them to find hope, forgiveness, and Salvation through Jesus. You realize that apart from Christ you can’t do anything. You rely on the Holy Spirit and you experience a transformation in your life where people see less of you and more of Jesus in your life.
So I ask again: Have you taken ownership for your faith or is just head knowledge. Lord, transform our head knowledge into heart knowledge.
