Read John 3:3-16
Let’s Address The Real Problem, Right Off The Bat!
So Nicodemus, the Pharisee, comes to Jesus at night searching for answers to questions about Jesus because he can see he is from God. He’s just not sure what Jesus is all about. Right off the bat, Jesus addresses what his life and our life is really all about. He says to Nicodemus, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.” These words are profound and worth listening to. Of course, Jesus’s words didn’t make sense to Nicodemus because he’s wondering how a person can enter his mother’s womb twice. But Jesus was talking about being born again by being born of the spirit. The first birth is of the physical, which is from the mother’s womb. The second birth is of the spirit: going from a spirit that’s dead in sin to renewed spirit of forgiveness. This renewal is only possible by the work of the Son of God.
As Jesus said in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only son. That whoever believes in him, shall not perish, but have everlasting life.”
Have you ever sat with others and began talking about the problems of life? Whether it be your problems or the problems of the world? I’m sure we could all spend a lot of time explaining how we fall victim to such moral decay that surrounds us
But like Jesus, with Nicodemus, let’s address the real problem right off the bat: Our battle is not against flesh and blood but the real battle is in the spiritual realm. As a result lives are being killed by sin and death. Deception rules in the lives of many. To fix this moral decay and deception, one must be born again of the spirit. This redemption is found only through the work of Christ, the Son of God. At the cross, He died. From the grave, he rose from death to life. And if we become born again through a relationship with Jesus, we die to sin and we live a new life of holiness with Jesus. Have you been born again of the spirit through a relationship with Jesus? Or are you still bound by sin and deception of the world leading unto death? Let’s address what the real problem is.
