Read John 3:17-18
Don’t Bring Condemnation Upon Yourself.
Jesus, in his conversation with Nicodemus, tells Nicodemus he must be born again spiritually because we all are dead in our sins. Because of sin, we will face God’s condemnation. That’s the penalty of sin. Therefore we need redemption. We need forgiveness. We need our sins removed. That’s when Jesus says, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son. That whoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life.”
The motive for Jesus going to the Cross was love. That’s the hope For ALL humankind. Verse 17 and 18 are just as powerful of words.
Vs.17-18: “For God did not send his son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned but whoever does not believe in him stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.”
It is not Jesus’s desire to condemn us in our sins. Condemnation is just a natural consequence of our sin. Yes, we need redemption! His desire is to save us from the penalty and natural consequences of our sin. The penalty of sin is death, His condemnation. However, Jesus stands before us offering his redemption. We get to choose a life with Jesus or without. We can believe and follow him, or we can reject and follow the world. It’s our choice. We determine our destiny: Jesus unto salvation – heaven for eternity. Or No Jesus resulting in condemnation – hell for eternity. Don’t reject his love and forgiveness. Rather receive this free gift and follow him.
