Read John 20:30-31
God’s Word is Oxygen to our Souls.
In the Gospels, we read about so many miracles that Jesus performed. John goes on to say that Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in the gospels. In fact, in verse 25, John says that Jesus did many other signs as well in a public setting.
But all that is recorded “are written that we may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.”
All the accounts written about Jesus are more than just “stories.” They aren’t to be read as “fairy tales.” If we don’t read every stroke of God’s word as an inspiration from God himself, then we miss the blessings that God offers us through his word. The blessings are endless! A goal is that:
1. We Believe Jesus is the Messiah and the Son of God. To not believe this, is to be a Pharisee, a blind misled person headed to destruction.
2. In believing God’s word you believe that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. This life is an eternal life for all who believe.
3. But God’s word is also a love story and a guide for living a holy life in Jesus. His words are oxygen to our souls that sustains our lives (Psalms 3:5, 55:22, and Isaiah 46:4).
Remember 2nd Timothy 3:16-17, that “All scripture is God breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness so that the person of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
Are we captivated by every word of God? Or are we captivated by this world and God’s word has just become a fairytale to us?
