Read John 14:5-14
If You Believe, Then You’ll Do His Works.
Jesus talks about going away but his disciples can’t come but at least they know the way to get where he’s going. Thomas is very confused. They don’t know Jesus is talking about heaven with his father and that Jesus is the way to get to God the Father. So Thomas says, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”
Jesus answered, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the father except through me.”
Jesus goes on to say that if you really KNEW him you would KNOW the father. Philip says, “Lord, show us the father and that will be enough for us.”
Jesus tries to make it clear that he and the Father are one.
1. To know Jesus is to know the Father.
2. To see Jesus is to see the Father.
3. To hear Jesus is to hear the Father because Jesus only speaks what the Father wants him to speak.
4. To believe in Jesus is to believe in the Father and vice versa.
To believe in Jesus is to strive to do the same works he is doing. Belief is proactive. I Believe In You Jesus so I want to do the work you have for me to do. I want to be busy doing your work.
And if I’m obedient in following your will for my life than when people see me, they will see Jesus. When people hear me speak, then they will hear the Holy Spirit speaking through me.
If I am committed to Jesus and his desires and his will for my life, then I can ask for anything in his name and he’ll do it. Because when I’m connected to him I won’t be asking out of selfish desires but out of the will of God. We can trust his desires and will over ours.
Do you believe in Jesus? Then do his work so that others might believe.
