Read John 14:25-31
The Power Of 12. And Now, The Power Of Nations.
Jesus spoke to his disciples while he is with them. He spoke of many important things, but says there is so much more to tell them when he’s gone. So when he is gone, he’s going to send the Holy Spirit, who he calls our ADVOCATE. The Father will send the Holy Spirit and he will teach all things and remind his followers of everything Jesus has ever said. The Holy Spirit will bring peace so we are not to let our hearts be troubled and are not to be afraid.
The disciples were sad to hear Jesus was leaving but he said they should be glad because it’s then all followers of Jesus will be able to receive the Holy Spirit from all around the world, from all nations.
Can you imagine how much more productive and more powerful the church will be when they work together under the power of the Holy Spirit? With the Holy Spirit we go from 12 disciples who are being taught and prepared for battle, now to millions upon millions upon millions of followers of Christ who can now be empowered at the same time, and fight against the enemy for the kingdom of God.
The enemy, the devil, has power to fight this world, but the church has the Holy Spirit which Jesus says the enemy has no authority over. So as a church, greater is the Holy Spirit in us than he who is in the world.
I don’t think we understand how important it was for Jesus to ascend into heaven so he could leave with us the Holy Spirit to teach us and empower us for service for the kingdom. Holy Spirit, truly come into the life of the church. Teach us and Transform us lives, then use us to transform the lives of others around the world.
