Read John 13:18-30. Part 1
You Have A Choice: Be His Messenger Or Not.
Jesus introduces to the 12 disciples that a Scripture is soon to be fulfilled. He’s speaking of Psalms 41:9 which says, “Even my close friend, one who shared my bread, has turned against me.”
Jesus is referring to Judas who would soon betray him. Jesus told them this in advance so that when it happened they would know it was a prophecy fulfilled and that they’d believe all the more that Jesus is the Messiah chosen by God to suffer, die, and be raised again. They didn’t yet understand what Jesus was talking about, but later they would understand and then they would have a choice: Do they become one of his Messengers who share Christ to the world or not?
We see the fulfillment of Psalms 41:9 in John 13:26-27. This is just one of the minimum 300 Scriptures that were fulfilled through the person of Jesus. That’s overwhelming evidence that Jesus is the Messiah.
So what are you going to do about it?
In verse 20 Jesus says, “Whoever accepts anyone I send accepts me; and whoever accepts me accepts the one who sent me.” After Jesus’s resurrection he told his followers to go into the world and preach the Gospel. We have Scripture that gives evidence that Jesus is who he said he is. Let’s take the time to READ the Scripture, STUDY the Scripture, and LEARN the Scripture. Then, may we allow the Holy Spirit to empower us so we can speak with confidence his TRUTH to a lost world.
Today you have a choice: to become one of his Messengers or not. Lord, here I am, send me!
