Read John 1:29-34
Now I Know Who Jesus Is!!
One day John was baptizing people unto a baptism of repentance from sin. On this given day, Jesus came to John and John saw the Spirit come down from heaven as a dove and remain on Jesus. It was then that John said, “Look, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.” John had a deeper understanding of who Jesus would be. Jesus wouldn’t be a king who would Free People from Roman rule, as most thought, but a king that would free us from the bondage and penalty of sin. John testified that Jesus was God’s Chosen One.
What is your understanding of who Jesus is? Is he just a prophet to you? Was he just a really good man to you. Do you find Jesus offensive because he calls you to turn from sin? In fact, you want no one telling you how to run your life. May we have the insight and understanding of who Jesus really is. He is more than a mere man. He is God’s Chosen One, the Son of God, who came to die in our place because of our sin. A person who chooses to live in sin, doesn’t understand the consequences of sin nor do they understand Jesus’s motive for calling us out of sin. Jesus motive is love. It’s love that drove Jesus to the cross. To reject this is to choose to stay in sin, only to suffer the horrible consequences of death unto hell.
God, remove the scales from my eyes that blind me to the truth that you LOVE me. Help me to know who you really are! Grant me the insight to understand your demonstration of love for me to save me from the penalty of sin. Grant me the wisdom to then walk with you in righteousness. Grant me the strength to follow you and your call in my life as a servant of the Lord. Here am I Lord, send me!
