Read John 11:48-53
Make a Choice: God’s Will Or Your Will Be Done.
After Jesus brought Lazarus back to life, the Pharisees and Sanhedrin had a plot to kill Jesus. The high priest, Ciaphis, spoke up saying, “You do not realize that it is better for you that one man die for the people than that the whole nation perish.” Ciaphas’s heart was not thinking about Jesus’s death as an opportunity to bring Salvation to souls. He was selfish in thinking that if Jesus dies then the Romans won’t destroy Jerusalem and the Temple of God. Once again, they we’re thinking only about themselves and their political power. They wanted Jesus to be a political sacrifice for their wishes. So they plotted to kill Jesus not realizing that God would use this as an opportunity to accomplish his will over their will. The sacrifice of Jesus would actually be a spiritual sacrifice for the Forgiveness of sins, not just for the Jews, but for all humankind.
The Pharisees and Sanhedrin pursued Jesus, not because of any concern for the spiritual well-being of others, but for what they could gain from it. Is your pursuit of Jesus an all out hunger for all he wants you to be for him? Are you trying to fit your life into his plan? Or are you trying to fit the life of Jesus into your plans?
Just for a second, stop thinking about your will for your life. Instead, surrender your job, your home, your dreams over to the Lord in brokenness and say, “I want what you want for my life and nothing less. Alter the course of my life if that’s your desire so that I can be in your perfect will. I want your will versus trying to mold you into mine.” Now be prepared to go on an adventure that you never thought you would for Jesus.
