Read John 11:1-16
God’s Timing Is Perfect.
There’s a man named Lazarus who had two sisters, Martha and Mary. Mary was the same woman who poured perfume on Jesus and wiped his feet with her hair. The two sisters sent word to Jesus saying, “Lord, the one you love [Lazarus] is sick.” It was then that Jesus said to disciples that this sickness will not end in death because it was necessary for God’s name to be glorified through the work of Jesus. The plan was for Lazarus to die so he could be raised from the dead and thus have God, through Jesus, be glorified.
After hearing the news, Jesus stayed two more days where he was at, before going to see Lazarus. This was important because it was necessary for Lazarus to die so Jesus could raise him from the dead. After 2 days, Jesus said to his disciples, let’s go back to Judea. The 12 disciples thought this was a horrible idea because he knew the Jews wanted to kill him. Jesus was not concerned. He knew he would be protected and would make good decisions to perform his miracle in daytime versus in darkness. [Just a side note, our best Ministry occurs when we are walking in the light versus the darkness].
Jesus told his disciples that Lazarus is dead and said he was glad he wasn’t there so that one’s faith would be enhanced by his great miracle. So they left for Judea, and Thomas said, “Let us go that we may die with him.”
Have you ever prayed for something and it seems that “evil” things happen along the way and you conclude that God is either dead or not present. I’m here to say, the evil that happened was / is necessary in order for God to bring about his perfect plan which will bring glory to his name and be that which is enhances one’s faith and one’s life. Later, we’ll see on how it was important for God to delay because it fit perfectly in his plan.
