Read Joel Chapter 1
Stop. Look. Listen. Obey.
Got spoke through Joel to a lost nation.
STOP: He calls them to stop what they are doing. They seem to be blind to what was happening.
LOOK: God told them to look at the devastation that has happened. The locust have come in swarms and destroyed all the fields, all the fruit bearing trees, all the vegetation.
LISTEN: God is trying to get their attention. He wants them to understand that the devastation that is happening is because of their sin.
OBEY: God calls the spiritual leaders and the people together. He wants them 100% reconnected with him.
What might God be saying to us?
STOP: Perhaps we too must stop what we’re doing and evaluate our hearts before God.
LOOK: We need to take a good look at what’s happening around us. Our nation is also lost. We’re struggling to buy food and gas, to pay our bills, to make a car payment, or even a house payment. Have we ever seen anything like this in our lifetime? Look at the corruption in our politics and in our streets. Even our churches are corrupt. The GOSPEL message is being excluded, while morality is being overcome with immorality.
LISTEN: It’s hard to hear God’s voice when we are “too busy” to set before him.
OBEY: We need to wake up and do something. We can’t just sit and do nothing. Let us put our faith into practice. Stand up for the truth in love. Walk in holiness. Be a light in a dark world.
Our nation is a mess. Let us not be a part of the problem, but rather a part of the solution to the problem. It starts with our relationship with Jesus. Lord give us that hunger and thirst for your Word and your righteousness.
