Read Jeremiah chapter 46
I Feel Ashamed!
The Lord said to Egypt, Babylon will attack you and you will be terrified and will retreat. You will run but not be able to escape God’s vengeance because of your sin. You will be put to shame and nations will hear of your shame. But in time, God said he will make Egypt a great nation again.
I’ve got good news and bad news. Let’s start with the bad news. If we are going to walk our life without the Lord, there will be consequences. Egypt was a great nation and because they served other gods, the Lord allowed them to be defeated badly and put to shame. Have you ever been in a similar situation resulting in yourself feeling ashamed? It’s a horrible feeling. You feel embarrassed and feel you let many people down. Some feel so bad that they feel there’s no hope. They feel they will only be remembered by their failures and have no hope for recovery. Some isolate themselves from God and from other Christians because they feel so unworthy. Some commit suicide.
The good news is, God already has a plan for recovery and renewal. Though Egypt was put to shame for their sins, God said he would one day make them a great nation again. God is all about restoration and renewal. So when you hit rock bottom, turn to the Lord, don’t isolate yourself and in due time he will restore you, equip you, and use you again to impact lives for the kingdom.
No matter how far you fall from the Lord, you’ve never fallen outside his love and grace. He’ll turn your SHAME into GLORY!
