Read Jeremiah Chapter 45
I’m Looking For Something Better.
This chapter is a flashback of something that happened to Baruch who always wrote, on a scroll, the words God spoke through Jeremiah.
Baruch was in a bad place in life. He was having a pity party saying “Woe Is Me.” He blamed God for all his “sorrow,” ” pain,” “being worn out,” and finding “no rest.” In his low moment he began to try and find something greater in life to fill the hurt, the pain, and emptiness he was feeling. But God said don’t do it! I will take care of you! Even though you are surrounded by disaster, I will take care of you.
Are you in a bad place? What is your brokenness? Money, relationship, failed career, rejection? Are you blaming God as Baruch did? Have you hit a low point in your life that you are now seeking something greater in life? Perhaps you too have lost sight of God and now you are looking for “happiness” to replace the hurt and pain and fill the emptiness you are feeling? God says don’t do it. Keep focused on him and he will take care of you. Don’t give up.
