Read Jeremiah Chapter 24
Lord, I Give You My Heart.
The nation of Judah has turned their hearts from the Lord. One group was taken into exile by Babylon their enemy. Another group survived the enemy’s attack and escaped. God shows Jeremiah 2 baskets filled with figs. One is filled with really really good figs. And one is filled with really really bad figs. Those who are in exile are compared to the really really good figs. Because God says they will be restored into a relationship with him and return to Jerusalem. While those who escaped the hands of their enemy, they are like the really really bad figs who God will utterly destroy. The one major difference between the two groups, was their hearts. Those who are in exile will return to the Lord “with all their heart.”
God’s love for us is truly undescribable. It doesn’t matter how bad we’ve been or how far we have walked away from the Lord, or how messed up we are, he’s always willing to take us back. He just wants our hearts. He doesn’t wait for us to change before his arms are open. Bring a heart that says I want to change and give it to Jesus. Through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, he will begin to conform us into the image of Christ, Romans 8:29.
Lord, I give you my heart!
