Read Jeremiah Chapter 23
I’m Such a Great Christian!
God declares a great punishment for the priests, prophets, and those shepherding the people because they scatter them into ungodly living.
God declares that the day is coming when he will bring a RIGHTEOUS BRANCH who will reign as a king and will do what is just and right. As a result, Judah and Israel will be saved. He will be called, Lord Our RIGHTEOUS SAVIOR (who we know as Jesus).
What leads people astray? Lies which come in many forms. All too often, we know they are lies but it tickles our ears and quenches the desires of our flesh. As a pastor and shepherd, I’m reminded often the value of preaching the word of God found in the Bible. God said to Judah, “Let the one who has my Word speak it faithfully.”
Christians! Anything spoken or lived outside the word of God is deceptive and only leads people astray and gives them false hopes. For those who choose to speak and live the word of God faithfully, I give this advice:
1. Stay humble in the Lord because once you preach truth, those who are hungry for it will compliment you and may even “worship” you. They will compliment you a lot and Satan will use it to instill within your heart, ARROGANCE. Be careful.
2. Always give God the glory. Once you quit giving God glory, you begin to take the glory yourself. That only leads to self-reliance and that’s a dangerous place to be.
God help us all live and speak your word faithfully around others so they can be pointed to the Righteous Branch who came to save us.
