Read Hosea Chapter 4
Does God Have A Case Against Us?
God speaks to Israel and has a case against them.
*There is no faithfulness. *No kindness. *And No knowledge of God.
Instead their lives are full of:
*Swearing. *Deception. *Murder. *Stealing. *And Adultery.
God declares he will reject them because they have rejected him. They have sinned and live a life of self Glory but God will turn it into shame. He will punish them and repay them for their deeds. They are a stubborn people.
Does God have a case against you? If we were put on trial, would there be evidence of a true faith in Jesus? Would there be evidence that we are true followers of Christ?
God listed with Israel the things they weren’t doing, that they should be doing. And he listed the things that they were doing that they shouldn’t be doing. Don’t get me wrong. Christianity is not all about do’s and don’ts. It’s all about a relationship with the Lord. It’s about our heart condition. God was concerned that their hearts were turned away from him. They rejected him. When our hearts are turned away from God, then we end up making life choices that give evidence of our unfaithfulness, our lack of kindness, and definitely shows our lack of knowledge for the things of God. Once our hearts fail in these areas, then our lives end up making choices that give evidence of a love for the things of this world: swearing, deception, selfishness, hate, complaining, gossiping, sexual immorality, etc.
So when I ask, “Does God have a case against you,” I’m really asking where is your heart for the Lord? Because where your heart is is when we find evidence of unfaithfulness or faithfulness. Maybe we all should make a list of examples of our faithfulness and a list of examples of our lack of faithfulness and see where our hearts really are. Perhaps we need to surrender our hearts to the Lord, repent of sin, so the Holy Spirit can live his life through us so others can be impacted for Him.
