Read Hosea Chapter 2
Let’s Chant: You’re Number One!!!!
God condemns the unfaithfulness of the Israelites and continues to use the relationship between Hosea and Gomer, the prostitute. What could be said about the prostitute could also be said about Israel. The biggest complaint is Unfaithfulness. Just as Hosea was not Gomer’s number one love, so also the Lord God was not Israel’s number one love.
God said these things:
* She is not my wife and I’m not her husband.
* She must quit with her prostitution with other lovers.
* She continues to commit adultery with others.
* If she doesn’t quit being unfaithful, I will expose her before others. I’ll make her a desolate place and cause her to be thirsty and no longer show compassion for her children because they are children of other lovers.
* God says he will build a wall against Israel and they will seek what they really love but will not find satisfaction. Life will become very very difficult to the point that they say, “I will go back to my first love.” However they do not realize it was God who had blessed them with so much before. So God will expose their sin and put an end to all their celebrations that exalt Baal the false god. He will punish them.
Then God speaks of the coming restoration of Israel. He lists over seven examples of how he will bless Israel so that God ends up calling them “MY PEOPLE” and they end up calling him ” MY GOD.” Where upon God is now number one in their heart and lives again.
What is your number one love? What consumes your mind and your heart? What or who takes most of your energy? Is God your number one pursuit or is it someone or something else. Please, make your relationship with Jesus Christ your number one love!
