Read Hosea Chapter 12
Don’t Get Caught Up In The Wind. It’s Nothing But Hot Air!
Verse 1 starts off saying, “Ephraim feeds on wind, and pursues the East wind continually;”
The Hebrew word for wind refers to something unseen, that’s nothing, and that which blows to and fro.
Ephraim is easily swayed by the teachings of the world. They have lost focus of the Lord. Rather, they focus on wherever the wind takes them.
What’s worse, they “pursue the East wind continually.” The East wind was a destructive wind, parching and injurious. We see the fruit of them being easily swayed by the destructive winds / false teachings: they “multiply in lies and violence.” They put their trust in others, rather than God.
In Vs 6, the Lord says, “Return to your God, OBSERVE Kindness and Justice.” The Hebrew word for OBSERVE means to watch, to keep, to preserve, and to guard. In other words, don’t lose focus of what’s really important. Don’t let The winds of false teachings sway you away from the Lord God and his teachings. Ephraim lost focus of kindness and justice. What have we lost focus of?
Sadly, Ephraim is unaware that they have lost focus on the Lord God. They say, “Surely I have become rich, I have found wealth for myself. In all my labor no one will find in me any sin.”
Are you easily swayed by false teachings? Are you trying so hard to fit into this world that you have lost Focus of the Lord your God? Don’t get caught up in the winds and false teachings of this world which are very destructive to your faith. Don’t let your self-righteousness convince you that there’s no sin within you. “Return to your God!”
