Read Hosea Chapter 10
I Love A Luxurious Life!
Vs 1: Israel loved their luxurious life. They loved to produce fruit. The more, the merrier. The more they produced, meant the more they could purchase resources to build more altars and more sacred pillars in order to worship false gods.
Vs 2: But their hearts were faithless toward the Lord God. Because of their faithless hearts, God declares they must face the consequences of their guilt. The Lord says he will break down all their altars and sacred pillars. God will chastise them.
Vs 3: God will remove their King. God is hoping they will then Revere him and realize their need for him.
Vs 12: God calls them to righteousness and kindness. God calls them to seek him, not just once, but constantly because God wants to rain down his righteousness upon them.
Vs 13: God calls them to put their trust in him versus putting their trust in their warriors.
Do you love a luxurious life? What is life all about for you? Is your goal just all about money? In fact, the more the merrier? Because the more you have means the more you can buy cool stuff, more clothes, or any items that fit what you’re really living for.
All your hard labor is done for who? For yourself or for the Lord? God is not against having “nice” things. But he is against making life all about money, power, and collecting stuff that has no eternal value. Life has to be all about putting your trust in the Lord and letting all you do be done for his glory and not your glory.
If God blesses me with money, then God help me to use it for your glory and your purpose. Show me how I can share the righteousness and kindness of Jesus with those in need! Help me demonstrate trust in you so I quit trying to be in control. Lord, I don’t want a life that results in facing your consequences because of my faithless heart to Jesus. I want to hear you say, one day, “Well done my good and faithful servant.” Help me SERVE OTHERS MORE versus trying to GET MORE for myself thus neglecting you and others.
