Read Habakkuk Chapter 3
I Don’t Care How Dark My Life Is, I Will Praise You Oh God!
Habakkuk, in his prayer, acknowledges his fear of God and calls for Mercy during God’s time of Wrath. He acknowledges God’s holiness and splendor, his radiance and hidden power. God desires salvation and revival for his people, yet his timing is very slow. Habakkuk quivers with fear and trembles because he realizes he must wait for the day that God rises against their enemy. God’s people are currently experiencing no blessings from God: their trees and vines produce no fruit, their olive production is non-existent, their crops fail, and their flock and cattle are cut off! YET, even amongst their darkest circumstances, Habakkuk says,
“Yet, I will exalt in the Lord. I will rejoice in the God of my salvation. The Lord God is my strength. He will cause me to run as the deer with joy and cause me to walk in high places.”
Even in his darkest time, Habakkuk will be able to have the joy of the Lord as his strength and praise Him.
Have you ever walked through a very dark period of time in your life? You wondered where God was? In your time of waiting for his revival and renewal, you trembled. You felt the blessings of God have departed from you and you struggled with life. It’s during these dark days you get to choose how you respond to the Great and Almighty God.
1. You can give up or want to give up. Complain. Yell and swear at God. You can tell him you hate him. Personally, I’ve done all of these.
2. Or you can exalt in the Lord. Rejoice in him. Recognize that he is your strength. And even though darkness hovers over you, you can run and walk in life with the joy of the Lord.
I would like to be able to brag about all my many successes as having the joy of the Lord as my strength in dark days, but there have been many of days when I whined to the Lord, told him I hated him, swore at him for not delivering me from my dark days when I wanted him to.
LET THIS BE YOUR PRAYER:
Dear God, help me PRAISE you and TRUST you and WAIT UPON YOU and have your JOY, even in my darkest days.
