Read Habakkuk Chapter 1
God says, “Behold, I AM doing something!”
Vs 2: Habakkuk is questioning God because so much evil is happening in Judah and it goes unpunished. He is very frustrated and says, How long must I call for help or cry out to you and you don’t respond?
Vs 3-4: Habakkuk continues to complain saying, “You make me look at all the iniquity, wickedness, destruction, violence, strife, contention, injustice, and disobedience to your law.”
Vs 5: God responds, “Look…! Observe! Be Astonished! Wonder (Be Amazed)! Because I am doing something, even now!! If I were to tell you what it was you wouldn’t believe me,” because your circumstances seem so impossible that you feel nothing good could come out of it.
Have you ever gone through something that just never seemed to end and even seemed unfair? I mean absolutely unfair! You cried out to God and complained about it and he seemed like he was far away just sitting back doing nothing. Like Habakkuk you say, “How long oh Lord must I keep crying out to you and you never respond?” There’s nothing fun about what is going on.
This is God’s response, “Look! Observe! Be astonished! Wonder, be amazed! Because I am doing something!”
God is not sitting back sipping on coffee. He’s going to take your circumstances and bring glory to his name. Hang on! Calm down! Take a few breaths! Persevere! Wait on the Lord! He is doing something!
