What’s So Important About Being Holy?
God showed another vision of seven men. One man had a writing kit by his side and he was directed by God to go throughout Jerusalem and put a mark on every forehead of those who grieved and lamented over all the detestable things done in Jerusalem. SIx men were instructed to go throughout the city and kill all those without the mark on their foreheads. They were to show no pity, no compassion and show no partiality: this included old and young men and women, including mothers and children.
I thought of the passage in Hebrews 9:26-28. Verse 27 says that all people are destined to die once, and after that face judgment.
But the hope we have is in verse 26, that Christ died for our sins, once and for all at the end of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of himself. Verse 28 says that Christ will one day come back again, not to bear sin, but to bring Salvation to those waiting for him.
Revelation 6:17 speaks of the Wrath of God that awaits those who rejected him. It says, “For the great day of their wrath has come and who can stand?” Who can escape such Wrath?
2 Corinthians 7:1 says, “Since we have these promises [of Christ’s return] let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit perfecting Holiness out of reverence for God.” Holiness, found in Christ, is how we escape the wrath of God.
Is our energy spent on the pleasures of this world or are we striving for the Holiness of God found through a relationship with his son Jesus Christ? He died for each and every one of us! May we then be willing to put to death any and everything that interferes with our HOLINESS.
