Is Your Temple Holy?
God lists a lot of details in the building of the new temple. He’s very specific and precise. Each section has its purpose. The area where the Lord dwells is to be treated with utmost respect and no one can enter his presence unless they have been cleansed and made holy. God had high standards when he made the temple building. Anyone who came into his presence in an unholy fashion would face the wrath of God.
It’s the same for us because we are God’s Temple (I Corinthians 3:16-17 “Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s Temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you. If anyone destroys God’s Temple God will destroy him for God’s Temple and you are that Temple).
God created us with great detail being very specific and precise. He has a purpose for our lives. But we must come before him in holiness. This can only be accomplished through a relationship with his son Jesus Christ. Jesus died for the forgiveness of our sins and calls us to walk in holiness. This requires a daily surrender of our Temple to the Lord. We must daily clothe ourselves in the righteousness of Christ (Ephesians 4:20-24, Philippians 3:9, Galatians 3:26-27).
Sadly, we are in a battle because the world and our culture says, “Do what you want, do what feels good because God doesn’t care because he loves you.”
Though it is true that God is a God of love, we must not forget, God is also a God of Holiness and so we too are to be Holy (I Peter 1:15-16). To reject his call for holiness, found in Christ alone, is to face God’s Wrath and Justice.
God help us all have a hunger and thirst for your righteousness so we can stand before you in holiness. Help us Lord to recognize that you made us in great detail with a purpose. Help us follow that purpose in holiness.
