Read Ezekiel Chapter 40
God, I Want Your Vision, Not Mine!!!
God was beginning the process of restoring his relationship with Israel. God gave Ezekiel a vision of the new Temple that is to be built. The vision consists of all the steps and measurements for building the shell of the Temple. Proverbs 29:18 says, “Where there is no vision people perish.” (KJV)
God gave Ezekiel a vision for restoring the Temple of the Lord. He gave all the precise measurements. Imagine if God just said, “Build Me a Temple” but gave no direction and no measurements; nor gave no specifics on what is to be inside the temple? Can you imagine the chaos that would be among the people, each coming in with their own ideas rather than God’s ideas?
God also didn’t say, “Here’s the vision for a new Temple. All of you go home and sleep and by morning I will miraculously make the new temple appear.”
NO!!!! He didn’t say that. Restoring the temple requires time, investment, and hard work.
Restoring our relationship with the Lord, or restoring our relationship with others, requires a vision from God.
1. Be a person of Prayer seeking God’s vision and not your vision.
2. Seek God for the plans he has to carry out the vision.
3. Expect that it will take time and hard work. Don’t have the attitude that says, “God, I want it NOW!!!!”
4. The vision will come with steps of success and steps of failings.
5. Keep the vision till it’s fulfillment or until God takes you in a different direction.
