Read Ezekiel Chapter 35

Nothing Good Comes From Harboring Feelings Against Others.

God speaks against Mount Seir and all of Edom, saying, I’m against you because you HARBORED hostility against my people, the Israelites. You caused bloodshed, therefore I will bring bloodshed upon you.

There’s nothing good about harboring feelings against others. You can’t hang on to the things of the past. To harbor feelings means you hang on to hate and unforgiveness. Nothing but evil comes from such feelings.

I listened to an NBA basketball player who harbored feelings against another player that had a flagrant foul against him. 2 years later he’s still talking about revenge.

I was bullied in school, and harbored a lot of ill feelings against certain individuals and would play over in my mind my revenge. Absolutely nothing good came from these feelings. Hate and Unforgiveness reigns in the heart of one who harbors feelings against others.

Read James 3:13-18.

It says that we are to be wise and show it by our good life, by deeds done in humility. But if we harbor envy and selfish ambition in our hearts, don’t boast about it. Such emotions are unspiritual and demonic. It only produces disorder and evil practices. Instead we are called to a higher wisdom that comes from heaven. We are to be pure, peace loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial, sincere, and we are called to be peacemakers. Out of such wisdom comes righteousness.

Dear Lord, help us let go of feelings we harbor so that righteousness, love and forgiveness reigns in our hearts and not evil: hate and retaliation. At some point, we have to let it go. Help us do so.
