Read Ezekiel Chapter 34
Let God Be Your Good Shepherd.
Got prophecies against the shepherds/rulers of Israel and against the flock / people of Israel.
Why was God against the shepherds / rulers of Israel? Because they didn’t take care of the flock / people. They didn’t strengthen the weak, heal the sick, bind up the injured, nor did they rescue the stray and bring back the Lost. They were brutal with the flock so that they scattered themselves, which made them vulnerable to their enemies, easy to be devoured.
Why was God against the flock / people of Israel? Because without a good shepherd, there is chaos amongst the people. They do as they please. God was angry with the strong sheep who took advantage of the weak sheep.
God declares that he wants to be the Good Shepherd. He wants to bring structure and security back to the flock. He wants to gather them together in one place and heal the sick, rescue the lost, and judge fairly between the good the bad sheep. He wants to reestablish the people’s value, worth, and purpose. He wants to shower them with his Blessing so that their lives produce good fruit for him.
How are you doing? Do you feel life has been somewhat chaotic and out of control? Daily surrender your circumstances to the Lord asking him to be the Good Shepherd. Give him control to work as he would want to. Let him bring healing where it is needed and for those who have gone astray entrust them into God’s hands praying he brings them back to himself. Let God be the Good Shepherd of your life and of your family and to those he has entrusted into your hands.
