Read Ezekiel Chapter 33
You Have No One To Blame, But Yourself.
When people read the Old Testament, they read accounts where God sends armies to fight against his people and kill them through a brutal death. It’s easy to conclude that God is mean and not fair. But when we read and study everything that happened before God’s judgment, we find out that God doesn’t destroy his people without warning. In fact he warns his people over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again to turn from sin. He warns them for years!!!!!!!!
For example, Ezekiel is a prophet that was sent by God to warn the people of his coming Wrath. He warns them for 40 years that they must turn away from their sins and get right with God.
Excuse me, but 40 years is a long time. I’m not that loving and patient with people. God says to his people in Ezekiel 33:11, “As surely as the Lord lives, says the Sovereign Lord, I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked but rather that they turn from their ways and live. Turn!! Turn from your evil ways. Why will you die, people of Israel?”
That’s God’s attitude still today. 2nd Peter 3:3-15 says that Jesus will one day return and judge the people. God says that he is not slow about his promise of Jesus’s return, but he is patient towards us because he doesn’t wish that any of us perish in hell but that we all turn from our sins and turn to Jesus and repent of our sins.
There are two choices: Heaven or Hell. We get to choose where we go based upon our relationship with Jesus. He is still warning us today to walk in Holiness with our Lord Jesus. If we choose a life apart from Christ, we will spend eternity in hell. If that happens, we have no one to blame but ourselves.
Choose Christ. Choose Love. Choose Holiness.
