Read Ezekiel Chapter 30
Overcoming Complacency.
The Lord says to Egypt, “The day of the Lord is near.” God will turn on Egypt and destroy them because of their complacency. In other words, they were content in being mediocre in their faith walk. They would indulge themselves in the whims of the world. As a result, their passion for God began to fade away.
How can we overcome complacency in our spiritual walk?
1. The first step is being able to acknowledge that you have become complacent.
2. Once you do that, you can begin to take steps towards overcoming it in the name of the Lord.
We have to be proactive with our faith walk. See what proactive words you can find in the following passages:
1. Hebrews 12:1 says we are to THROW OFF everything that hinders our walk with the Lord and then RUN WITH ENDURANCE.
2. Hebrews 10:23-25 says we are to HOLD TIGHTLY to the hope of Jesus.
3. We can’t GIVE UP MEETING and FELLOWSHIPPING TOGETHER.
4. We need to ENCOURAGE one another. We need it!
5. Philippians 3:14 says we are to PRESS ON toward the goal of Heaven so we can WIN the prize.
