Read Ezekiel Chapter 28. REALLY? Do You Think You Are All That?

The King of Tyre was once a wise and blameless King before God. He was perfect in Beauty, but when his wealth increased, he became full of pride. He saw himself as a god who sat on the throne of a god and felt he was as wise as a god. God basically said to him, “REALLY? You think you are all that?” God declared that the king would die a violent death, then asked him, “When you die will you say to your killers, “I am a god?” No, says the Lord, because you are a mortal human being and not a god.

Have you ever thought you were something, only to be humbled in front of everyone?

When I was in third grade, during gym, we were learning how to dribble the basketball. Then our teacher said he would time us on how fast we could dribble down to the other end of the gym and back. I was to go first . I wanted to be fast so I dribbled hard and fast all the way down and back. Then a non-athletic girl went next. She went really slow. A steady slow pace. Inside I even chuckled because of how slow she was. Only to hear that her time was faster than mine. I was trying to go so fast that I became SO SLOPPY, but couldn’t realize just how sloppy I was. But the gym teacher made sure he emphasized her time over mine.

It was humbling and embarrassing because Pride was in my heart.

I wonder how God sees me when it comes to my walk with Jesus? Do I think I’m all that? Have I lost sight of the needy? Am I more apt to look down on the “sinners” than I am to want to serve them. Have I become so arrogant that I think I’m better than the other Christians. God, show me my prideful ways so that I can humble myself before you versus have my pride exposed before others.
