Read Ezekiel chapter 27
A Horrible End Awaits You.
Tyre was a majestic city doing lots of trade and had many business opportunities with very skilled workers. They were a city of great wealth.
But Tyre lost Focus of the Lord. It became all about money. All their energy went into their wealth. As a result, God said to them that their lives will come to a horrible end and they would be no more.
What about us? What drives you? What consumes your energy? What consumes your thoughts? Is your relationship with Jesus the most important thing in your life? Or is it your career? Your hobbies? A certain relationship? Or money? If Jesus is not our number one driving force for life, then, like Tyre, our lives will come to a horrible end.
You have a career? Great! Strive to be the best that you can be, not for your glory, but for the glory of God. If your career prospers but your faith in Jesus is dying or weakening, then you’ve lost Focus on what’s most important.
How about certain relationships? Are certain relationships taking up so much of your energy that you “can’t live without them?” Are you really willing to forfeit your faith walk so you can be with this one person or persons?
You have a hobby? Great. Enjoy it. If your hobby is what defines Who You Are, then a horrible end awaits you. Your identity should not be found in your hobby but In Christ alone.
Jesus said in Matthew 6:24 that we can’t have two masters. You can’t serve Jesus and put your energy into another master [career, relationships, hobbies, money].
It is so easy to be deceived. Let’s take time to evaluate where our hearts really are and then do what is necessary to make Jesus number one in our lives and in the center of all we do for his glory and not ours.
