Read Ezekiel Chapter 20
God’s Compassion Won’t Last Forever.
The Elders of Israel came to Ezekiel to inquire the Lord. But God said to them I will not let you inquire me because of your detestable practices. You are rebellious people. God reminded them of four times when he should have poured out his Wrath but showed compassion instead.
Then God warned them that they need to stop their rebellion because he will eventually execute judgment upon them.
Like the Israelites, have you ever walked away from the Lord in rebellion, and still prayed to him like you were not doing anything wrong? You deserve God’s Wrath, but he gives compassion instead. He’s being patient with you hoping you’ll turn from sin and become faithful to him.
I pray that, like the Israelites, you will:
1. Remember the Lord God is Holy, and
2. Acknowledge your sin and even hate it with great intensity so that you no longer have a desire to repeat the sin.
Do these two things and you’ll find restoration with the Lord.
Are you there yet? Or are you still hanging on to that one sin that, deep down in your heart, you know you have to let it go?
Two options:
1. By God’s strength, let it go and be holy and redeemed. Or
2. Hang on to it and be ready to suffer the consequences of your sin.
God, forgive me of my sins but also empower me so I can walk in holiness. Amen!
