Read Ezekiel Chapter 19
Lament Over Sin, vs Casting Judgement.
A lament is given for two great Princes from Judah. The lament / song is told using personification. They talk of a powerful lioness and two strong lions. The lioness represents Judah and the two lions represent two consecutive Princes/Kings raised out of Judah.
Judah was once a strong and mighty nation for God who raised two strong princes that later became arrogant. As a result, God allowed them to be taken captive and put in prison. The first king was captured and taken to Egypt and the second one was captured and taken to Babylon. They went from being a great nation to a broken non-productive Nation for the Lord.
I find it interesting that God calls for the nation to lament over the two Princes that failed. He didn’t call for the people to destroy them but lament over them. God is the final judge not us.
I truly believe God wants to raise up men and women for Himself. I believe he wants men and women of integrity, knowledgeable of his word, committed to the cause of Christ, reaching people who are lost. Some people start out strong in their faith, but over time, circumstances blind their eyes of Truth and they make decisions that hurt them and those around them.
I believe God is calling the church to lament over the Brokenness and be a tool in helping others be restored back with the Lord. We are not to act as a judge, hating the person. God is the final judge. But we are to hate sin and we can lovingly, and firmly encourage others back to the Lord.
God, I lament over my own sin first. Forgive me. Help me to be faithful. Raise Me Up to be the man you have called me to be for you. AMEN.
