You Look Beautiful On The Outside!
The false prophets are condemned by God because they had the weak wall whitewashed so that it looked prepared on the outside but wasn’t on the inside. God said he would send violent winds, hailstones, and torrent rains which would cause the wall to fall to the ground allowing the enemies to come in. Then the people would say, I thought the wall was fixed because it was whitewashed.
I’m reminded of Matthew 23:27-28, where Jesus called the teachers of the law and Pharisees whitewashed tombs because whitewashed tombs look beautiful on the outside but inside have nothing but dead bones. God accused them of looking righteous on the outside but inside we’re wicked because they misled others in their faith.
Oh please, hear my heart on this.
Do we look righteous on the outside because we go to church on Sunday and are sweet people at work. We may even have eloquent prayers at the table. But inside, we’re struggling to be faithful Monday through Saturday. Are you struggling with pornography, are you addicted to alcohol, do you have anger issues, are you in the word of God daily. Is your family somehow connected together in the word of God so that when the storms of life come you don’t fall as a family or as an individual?
The greatest advice I can give to a person is to be invested daily in the word of God. The greatest advice I can give a family is to be invested into God’s word together daily. Encourage one another. Be real with your kids so they can feel comfortable to share temptations they face. Pray for one another. Hold hands as a family and pray so Christ is in the center of your relationship. Have real discussions about everyday life. Don’t let your family look whitewashed on Sunday but be struggling and hurting Monday through Saturday. For those without a family, be connected to the body of Christ where you pray with certain individuals so that you too do not fall under the storms of life. Please take heed to what I’m saying. Start today!!!!!
