Read Daniel Chapter 9
There Is Hope!
As Daniel read from the book of Jeremiah, he came across the section regarding the completion of the destruction of Jerusalem of 70 years. Daniel sought the Lord for revelation of this passage and did so with fasting, sackcloth and ashes, with prayers of praise and Thanksgiving. Oh that we would approach the throne of grace with such humility, acknowledging God with praise and thanksgiving versus with hearts of complaining and displeasure. Oh that we could see more of the goodness of God in our lives, focusing more on what God has blessed us with, versus focusing on what we wished he would bless us with.
God loves us and is excited to reveal to us his understanding, his wisdom and insight. May we approach him with more humility versus with a heart of entitlement. May we be quick to confess our sins while thanking God for his undeserved compassion and forgiveness.
It was during Daniel’s prayer that God revealed to him clarity of the vision. What jumped out to me was what would be accomplished in the 70 weeks spoken of in the vision.
This is what was spoken of in verse 24 that would be accomplished in the 70 weeks:
1. There would be a finishing of the transgression speaking of a new order on Earth where there would be no more sin.
2. To make an end to sin speaks of this new redeemed world.
3. To make reconciliation for iniquity. Thanks be to the Cross of Christ!
4. To bring an everlasting righteousness which was brought on by the Lamb of God, the Messiah. Our sin was replaced by his righteousness!
5. To seal up vision and prophecy meaning the ending and fulfillment of all prophecies. The greatest fulfilled prophecy yet to come is spending eternity with the Lord God Almighty in heaven.
6. To anoint the most holy, which I see as the anointing of the Holy Spirit upon the church. The challenge for us to take the gospel to the Lost world.
Thank you for forgiveness of sins. Thank you for the ability to be righteous through the work of Christ. Thank you for the anointing of the Holy Spirit to empower us and equip us for reaching lost souls for your kingdom.
