Part 2 – Is Jesus Your Lord Or Is He Just Your Teacher?
In yesterday’s devotional, Jesus said to his 12 disciples that one of them would betray him. I mentioned how the 11 were greived and asked Jesus, “Surely not I, Lord?” When Judas was revealed as the one who would betray Jesus, Judas responded, “Surely not I, Rabbi?” The 11 called Jesus Lord but Judas called Jesus Rabbi which means teacher.
What I find interesting is that once his sin was exposed as the coming betrayer, he had the opportunity to repent. But he didn’t. Instead he denied any guilt and continued to fulfill his agreement to hand over Jesus to the religious leaders for the 30 silver coins.
Everyday we are tempted in some manner to be unfaithful to the Lord. Sometimes we fail. What you do after you fail determines if you’ll continue down the path of unfaithfulness or not? It will determine if your heart becomes harder or if it becomes broken leading to repentance. When your sin is found out, and even exposed, do you feel guilty? Or ashamed? Do you continue to be adamant that you are innocent? Do you continue down the path of hypocrisy?
Are you going to allow Jesus to be Lord of your life or just a teacher? Don’t let your heart be hardened. Repent and Confess your sins, for Jesus is faithful and will forgive you of your sins. Make him Lord of your life again and he will transform your life again!
