Can You Tell That I’m A Follower Of Jesus?
Not long after Saul’s transformation from being a Jesus hater to a Jesus follower, that he came to Jerusalem. He tried to join in with the disciples, but they were all afraid of him, not believing he was really now a follower of Jesus. But Barnabas took Saul to the apostles and told them of Saul’s encounter with Jesus and how he had been fearlessly preaching Jesus to crowds of people, even those who hated and wanted to kill him. Then Saul was welcomed by the other believers and encouraged him to keep using his gift of preaching in new places.
Because Saul was no longer persecuting Christians, the churches throughout Judea, Galilee, and Samaria experienced a time of peace and as a result were strengthened in their faith. The church continued to grow in numbers.
No one would have ever believed that Saul would one day become a follower of Jesus. But he did!
I have a question: if you told your friends, or people that knew you, that you were a follower of Jesus, would they believe you? What evidence does your life exemplify that would make them say you are a follower of Jesus?
Do you have a friend, like Barnabas, that would come to your defense and tell great stories about you and about your faith, and how the Holy Spirit is working in and through your life?
Paul’s gift was preaching and he was encouraged to keep doing so. What is your gift? How can you be using your gifts everyday so that others can experience the power of God in their lives and also become a follower of Jesus? Let’s all be active in our everyday walk with the Lord. Let us be a light in the world for all to see.
