Does Jesus Need To Get Your Attention?
Saul was an intelligent man but was full of so much hate. He hated Christians and made murderous threats. His hate drove him to want to travel over 130 miles to Damascus to arrest Christians and bring them back to Jerusalem and put them in prison.
What were the odds of Saul becoming a follower of Jesus? Next to none! It could never happen. The thing is we don’t know! Shame on us when we “Assume” someone will never come to Jesus because of how hateful and evil they are. Let us love the “worst” of the sinners with the Love of Jesus. Let us pray for them. Then let God do whatever he wants. God can reach even the “worst” of them.
Jesus got Saul’s attention by sending a bright light from Heaven all around him. Saul fell to the ground and heard a voice say to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?” Saul asked, “Who are you Lord?” Jesus replied, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.” Jesus told Saul to go into Damascus and he would be told what he must do there. The men traveling with Saul were speechless. Saul became blind and did not eat or drink anything for 3 days.
Are you a follower of Jesus? Are you committed. Or does your life need transformed into a more committed relationship with him? Is following Jesus that important to you? Do you read your Bible? Is Church fellowship important to you? Or do you prefer staying home? Is making Jesus the center of your life important whether it be at school or home or your job?
Does Jesus need to get your attention? Have you lost the hunger and thirst to pursue God with all your heart? Surrender your heart today and let the Holy Spirit transform your life. Don’t wait for him to “get your attention.”
