Read Acts 6:8-15
I Want To Be Like You.
Stephen was one of the men chosen to help with the ministry to the widows. He was full of God’s grace and power, and performed great wonders and signs among the people. He preached Jesus. But, instead of everyone rejoicing in what God was doing in and through his life, an enormous amount of Jews were jealous and began to argue and oppose Stephen and his many gifts. But the Holy Spirit gave Stephen so much wisdom that those who opposed him couldn’t stand up against him.
So they began to stir up lies about Stephen and made many false accusations so as to make him look really evil. As a result, he was arrested and put on trial. The religious leaders looked intently at Stephen but his face was like that of an Angel because God was with Stephen.
There are a few men in the Bible that I have prayed that God would help me be like them. Stephen is one of them. I want God to use me mightily for the Kingdom of God. Here’s the thing, do we understand what it means to be used mightily for the Lord? We want to do great things, but are we willing to suffer some of the opposition we’ll face because of it? Some people will hate us and say horrible lies about us so that we look evil. Some people today even face death because of their faith in Jesus. Are we willing to die for our faith in Jesus? Just as Stephen’s face was like that of an Angel when he was on trial, I want people to see Jesus in me even when I face the most evil opposition and accusations against me.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, I want to do Great and mighty things for you, but help my life reflect you each and every day so that when people see me they actually see Jesus in me. Even when I face evil opposition, let my life reflect you. Rather than returning evil for evil, help me shut my accusers with your Love and Truth shining through me.
