We Must Obey God … No Matter What!
The so-called “religious leaders” had the apostles brought before the Sanhedrin to be questioned by the high priest. They were jealous of their popularity and mad because they were preaching the resurrection of Jesus. So they said to the apostles, “We gave you strict orders not to teach in this name [of Jesus]. Yet you have filled Jerusalem with your teachings and are determined to make us guilty of this man’s blood.” The apostles replied, “We must obey God rather than human beings.”
Peter went on to say, “Yes, you did kill him, but God exalted Jesus as Prince and Savior so that all of Israel might repent and receive forgiveness of sins. We witnessed his death and Resurrection and so did the Holy Spirit who God gives to those who obey him.”
At some point in our lives, we have to make the decision: are we going to follow Jesus every day and obey him, or fall to the pressure of the world that says don’t follow Jesus, and don’t talk about him. Your peers, or even your enemies, may not believe in Jesus and may put a lot of pressure on you to not have faith in Jesus, not talk about him, and not live for him. Like the apostles, may we also say, “We must obey God rather than those telling us not to.”
We must keep sharing Jesus because people need to receive Jesus for the Forgiveness of their sins. Otherwise, they will spend eternity in hell. Do you want that?
