Read Acts 2:19-21
Transformation Comes With A Price.
When God poured out his Spirit during Pentecost, he declared the coming transformation through Christ. This promise of transformation comes with a price.
This passage speaks of these words:
“Blood and Fire:” There will be wars amongst Nations and wars in the spiritual realm of our hearts. Our Hope for Victory and Transformation comes through Christ.
“Billows of Smoke:” Smoke often signifies the presence of God or the aftermath of God’s judgment. May my heart experience the full transformation out of obedience to the Lord, versus facing his judgment because of disobedience.
The Sun into Darkness and The Moon into Blood: These terms often symbolize or refer to the falling of earthly powers, mourning, or the judgment of God.
The thought that comes to my mind is the darkness that fell over the Earth during the crucifixion of Christ. His resurrection, however has brought hope for the lost.
Such signs will occur before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord.
“The Day of the Lord:” This phrase describes a time when God acts decisively to judge evil and vindicate His people.
Is the day of the Lord considered the day Jesus rose from the grave or does it refer to the day he returns to gather his church? The latter makes sense to me. Regardless, may we see the urgency in accepting the salvation that Christ offers us. Verse 21 says that “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
May that be the urgent cry of our hearts to the Lord! Jesus, I repent and receive You by faith. May I experience the transformation you have for me on Earth. I know it will come with trials and tribulations, but may your grace sustain me and keep me faithful to the end.
