Read Acts 1:1-8
Receive The Holy Spirit With Power.
After Jesus resurrected from the dead, he gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to his disciples over a period of 40 days and spoke about the Kingdom of God. On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave this command to not leave Jerusalem. Instead they were to wait for the Holy Spirit who was promised to them. They would receive the Holy Spirit with POWER!!
Immediately, they asked, “Is this when you will restore your kingdom to Israel?”Jesus responded, basically by saying, don’t worry about that right now! I want your focus on knowing you’ll receive the Holy Spirit with POWER. Use that power to be my witnesses all over the world. One day, Jesus will be back to gather all believers, but until then our focus, attention and energy needs to be on reaching people for Jesus around the world.
Where is your focus? Are you allowing the Holy Spirit to equip you with POWER so you can be used to share Jesus with others, both with words and actions? When is the last time you remember sharing Jesus with someone in words? We can probably think of a lot of things we’ve done to share Jesus’s love by our actions, but it’s easy to neglect sharing Jesus’s salvation message so others can come to know him.
Lord, challenge us all to be more proactive in sharing Jesus’s love with our actions and our words. Help us be willing to go outside our comfort zone and be obedient to the command of going into all the world with the Good News of Jesus – with POWER.
