Psalms Chapter 99
What’s So Significant About Being Holy?
Four times in this chapter the psalmist instructs us to worship God for he is Holy.
So what is so significant about God and His Holiness that it would draw us to want to worship Him, or remind us that we should worship Him?
Holiness means perfection in all areas of one’s life. It’s a part of God’s makeup. He can’t be unholy. That means anything God does is right, fair, and just. It means we can trust everything about him.
Think of someone that you love. What do we do towards them? We express our thankfulness for them. We speak highly of them because we respect them and feel they are good and trustworthy people. We may even praise them with wonderful compliments. But once you hang out with someone long enough you begin to see their imperfections which result into a conflict.
God on the other hand is 100% Holy so how much more should we express our thankfulness and praises to a perfect God who created us, who loves us, and is trustworthy, fair, and just?
Yes, I understand, we even have conflict with God because we disagree with him. But our disagreements are not justifiable like with humans. Remember God is Holy so rather than declare him wrong we should learn to trust him even amongst the situations that we wished he did differently. We shouldn’t be afraid to trust him. We shouldn’t be afraid to let go of things that stand between us and God. We are afraid but we shouldn’t be because he is Holy. He can be trusted 100%. He loves us. He created us. He created us for a purpose. Let’s trust him to carry out that purpose for his glory.
