Psalms Chapter 88
It’s A Lonely Place.
The psalmist says these words:
“Lord, you are the one who saves me. I cry out to you day and night. I’m overwhelmed with troubles. I have no strength. My life draws near to death. I’m in the lowest pit. Your wrath lies heavily upon me. My closest friends have turned on me. I called to you everyday. Why do you reject me and hide your face from me? Darkness is my closest friend.”
Have you ever felt deserted by God and by others? It’s a lonely place. When Jesus went to the cross, it was a lonely place. He felt forsaken by God. His best friends deserted him. Yet in his most deepest and most darkest time of his life, He was still able to invest into a criminal’s life who hung on the cross beside him. The man gave his life to Jesus that very day. But Jesus didn’t stop there, he eventually gave his life for all humankind, making the way for the salvation of one’s soul.
Are you at that lonely place feeling rejected by God and others? Don’t give up! God Will save you. Keep investing your heart into the Lord and keep praying he opens the door for you to invest into someone’s life. You might find the darkest time of your life as God’s way to put a passion in your heart for the life of someone else who is suffering and in need of your love and encouragement.
