Psalms Chapter 74
My Heart Is In Ruins.
The psalmist starts off asking the Lord why he has rejected them for what seems like forever. He says their “Nation is in ruins.” He remembers the days when God restored their broken Nation.
As I read this, I thought, not of a Nation, but of a soul. I thought of a person who once knew the Lord but where God once dwelt seems like no more. I guess it could be said: “Their heart is in ruins.”
Who can deliver such a person? Only the Lord! But first, a person must recognize their lostness. Then second, come to the Lord in brokenness asking for forgiveness and restoration. Is your heart in ruins? Is it in need of being restored with the Lord? If so, He loves you very much and is waiting for you to come to him with a broken heart and acknowledge your need for him again. Surrender this ruined heart and he will restore and renew your relationship with him.
