Psalms Chapter 69
Where are you God? Am I Listening?
The psalmist cries out to the Lord with these words:
Save me, oh God. I’m overcome by the flood of the water. I’m worn out calling for help. My throat is dried out. Despite those who curse me and ridicule me, I pray to you God. Rescue and deliver me. In your great love, answer me and do so quickly. My heart is broken. I feel helpless. I look for sympathy and for comforters and find none. Destroy my enemies and give me your salvation and protection. I praise and glorify you oh Lord! May all the earth Praise you.
The psalmist is in great need and continues to cry out to God In Prayer and In Praise.
If you don’t mind me sharing these thoughts, but I have experienced overwhelming situations where I wondered where God was. I have countless experiences of others who have, and are, as well. I have often wondered why God Is So far away and not responding. But sometimes I can’t help but think he is responding. God may speak quietly to our hearts. He may speak through the words of others. Sometimes what we hear, we don’t like, so we push it aside. Yet we know deep down in our hearts that he is speaking.
It’s like when I felt trapped for 3 and 1/2 years in a turmoil relationship and situation. I wanted out and cried out to God. Deep down in my heart I knew God wanted me there going through this turmoil for a reason: To stretch me. To stretch my faith. To teach me to be a man. I knew that deep down in my heart but it was still hard.
What are you going through? Do you feel like God is a long ways away and not listening. Hang in there. Like the psalmist, keep praying and keep praising the Lord. And keep listening, because maybe he has spoken. If so, be obedient, persevere, be patient for his timing, and don’t give up. He does love you and wants the best for you!
