This Is Stupid! I’m Not Doing That!
David prays for God to deliver him from the king who wants to kill him even though David has done nothing wrong. The king is jealous of David and his popularity. He prays that God will deliver him from his enemies but at the same time does not want God to kill the king who wishes to kill him.
I find that interesting. How many of us respect our authority or co-workers? On the contrary, our attitude is if he or she treats me wrong, then they’ve lost my respect. At that point arrogance and hate take over. From that time on we justify every act of hatredness we present to them. “Besides, they started it!”
I know this won’t be a popular thought process, but Jesus set us an example to love others and if necessary, he says, turn the other cheek or go the extra mile. There were times Jesus was Stern with those who attacked him, but he never lost his love for them and never lost the desire to see them come to relationship with the Lord God.
The greatest testimony we can have for others is how we love them. Yes, pray for deliverance. Pray God let’s his Justice rise in victory, stand up for the truth, but don’t lose your love and respect. There are two options: love or hate. Which do you choose?
