Psalms Chapter 58
It’s Not Fair!
The psalmist attacks the leaders, questioning the integrity of their hearts. He asked them, do you speak justly? Do you judge fairly? No, they don’t, because they focus more on “devising Injustice” and “promoting violence.”
It’s easy to see the Injustice of others, especially if we are the ones suffering from it. We say, “It’s not fair!” The desire for popularity, money, or power, blind people of the truth resulting in the person lying, doing evil, and promoting Injustice to others, especially those who oppose them. It’s not fair and it’s just not right.
How easily do we see our own Injustice? Do we treat people equally? Acts of Injustice comes in different forms:
1. Sometimes it’s blatant when we harass or make fun of a not so popular person because of our desire to be accepted into the popular crowd.
2. Sometimes it’s done in silence. There’s a person blatantly being isolated and ridiculed right before our eyes. Yet we do nothing. We sit in silence because we don’t want to get “involved.” Yet are silence gives the message to the isolated person that they’re not worth it.
It’s not just the big politicians or men and women in power that are susceptible to showing Injustice. We all are. How do we do with that? Jesus was drawn to the broken and poor in spirit. May we be also regardless of how much we are rejected by our peers. Jesus is looking for those who want to change the world for His kingdom versus trying to gain the world for our selfish purposes.
