Psalms Chapter 56
Are You A Scaredy Cat? Do You Live In Fear?
The psalmist cries out to the Lord because his enemies are attacking him. He has been in misery and anguish, and has shed many tears. But then he declares that it’s in God that he praises and thanks and it’s in God that he puts his Trust so therefore he is not afraid of his enemies. Psalms 27:1 says, “The Lord is my light and my salvation, who shall I fear. The Lord is the strong hold of my life, of whom shall I be afraid?
Do you live in fear? What is your fear connected to? Do you fear death? Do you fear darkness? Do you fear God’s punishment because of your past? Do you fear for your future because you think God can’t or won’t take care of you? Do you fear a certain person or group of people?
Let me say this, there are healthy fears as they relate to safety issues. But usually the fears we have are fed from the lies of the devil. If this is you, then it’s time to have a talk with the devil.
CHALLENGE: It’s time to denounce and rebuke the devil and his lies in the name of Jesus and declare that he has no power over you. You belong to the Lord. You are God’s son or daughter. Declare victory by God’s power versus holding hands with the devil. Begin living in freedom with the Lord. Stop being a scaredy cat! You belong to the Lord!
