Psalms Chapter 55
Get Me Out Of This Storm!
Hear what the psalmist has to say and see if you can relate.
“God! Listen to my prayer. Answer me. I am distraught from my enemy. I’m suffering. My heart is in anguish. Fear of death is upon me. Horror has overwhelmed me. I wish I could fly away and escape and just go far away. Even my close friend betrays me. Lord, confuse my enemies. They are constantly prowling about with violence and strife, malice and abuse. I called to God and he saved me. He hears my voice. He rescues me. He humbles my enemies. Cast your cares on the Lord because he will sustain you. He will not let the righteous be shaken. My enemies, God, you will bring down. As for me: I trust in you.”
I remember feeling so distraught that I wanted to leave and escape from the situation and be done with it!! But I felt God was using the storm of my life to help make me more of a man of God. In due time, God calmed the storm. My trust, however, was like a roller coaster ride. One day I trusted. The other day I complained because of the lack of trust.
Despite the fact that the world around us is suffering, God cares about YOU!! God cares about YOUR circumstances. God hears YOUR cries. God feels YOUR pain. He’ll ride the storm with you and will sustain you through the storm. Be like the psalmist, and not like me, and Trust the Lord.
